Born is Simsbury, William married Elizabeth Wilson in 1699/00 and they settled in Salmon Brook working lands north and west of Barn Door Hills. He was a sergeant in the train band and a member of the Simsbury Church. When he died in 1732/33, at about the age of 63, he left an estate of £438 including lands in Simsbury and Farmington. William lived long enough to see all but his youngest marry. Daniel, then a minor, chose his mother as his guardian. Elizabeth died 13 years later in 1746 at the age of 71. This branch of the family shortened the name to "Wilcox" as spelled in William's probate record.
