About Sharon Lynn Boyice
GEDCOM Note
Sharon Lynn Boyice McElwee was born on March 16, 1944, in Kansas City, Kansas. She attended Grant Elementary, Northwest Junior High School and Wyandotte High Schools. She had a fond relationship with the Sumner class of 1962, where she attended many of their class reunions. Sharon was the eldest of twelve children to William and Clarice Boyice. Holding the title of "the eldest" was held in high esteem because the younger siblings had to obey, just as they would the parents. However, Sharon was a mild, gentle, and quiet spirit giving orders and demanding orders, was not her forte'. Her serving spirit was beyond reproach. She neither complained, nor refused anyone asking her for help. She would accept with her gracious smile. Her spirit was a giving one, always ready to serve. As Matthew 24:45 states, "Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household?" God definitely endowed her with the gift of service. Upon graduation she went into the field of nursing as a Nurse's Aid and then as a Practical Nurse at KU Medical Center. Later she served at Bethany Medical Center and was noted for her grand back massages. Patients requested her by name. She later went on to do private home care for Mrs. King. Returning home, she took great care of her grandmother until her demise. Then she cared for her own parents, until her health denied her. Sharon accepted Christ at an early age at the Eighth Street Baptist Church. She served in the Teenage Choir, the Adult Choir and the Mission Department. In 1989, she united with the Mason Memorial United Methodist Church. She continued to give service as a lifetime Communion Steward, and a member of the Adult Fellowship Choir and Rose of Sharon Mission Circle of the United Methodist Women's Group. She served faithfully until her health failed. Sharon was united in marriage to Virgil McElwee, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Alfred Bartee, Jr. Sharon leaves to cherish her memories: two loving daughters, Anita Bartee and Cynthia McElwee. Two granddaughters, Diedra Boyice and LaTisha Bartee and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves, two sisters; Marion Wyatt (John) and Olivia Roland (Larry); and six brothers: William Jr., Edgar (Anna), Raymond (Madelynn), Lester, Kelvin (Valerie), and Keith. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends also loved her dearly. "Well done my good and faithful servant" Click here to Reply or Forward Enter obituary information here.
