About Sir William Pilkington, 8th Baronet
Biographical Summary
"Sir William Pilkington, Baronet [S 1635], of Chevet, brother and heir male, baptized 14 November 1775, at Wakefield, succeeded to the Baronetcy, 9 July 1811, and purchased the estate of of Chevet from his nieces soon afterwards. He married, 25 June 1825, at St Marylebone, Mary, 2nd daughter and coheir of Thomas Swinnerton, of Butterton Hall, in Trentham, co Stafford, by Mary, daughter and heir of Charles Milborne, of Wonastow, co Monmouth, and of he Priory, Abergavenny. He died at Chevet Hall, 30 September 1850, and was buried at Sandal Magna, in his 75th year. His widow, who by Act of Parliament, 1836-37, took the name of Milborne-Swinnerton</strong> before that of <em>Pilkington, died 11 and was buried 20 December 1854, at Butterton, aged 61."
