Susie Arnett Stephens, March 6, 1913 - May 14, 2004, Susie Arnett Stephens, 91, of 1215 Jackson Blvd., Rochester, died at 2:10 p.m. Friday at Woodlawn Hospital where she had been a patient since Wednesday. Born in Salyersville, Ky., to Bernie B. and Parrot Summy Craft, she lived in the Rochester area for the past 51 years after coming here from Salyersville. She married Chester Arnett in Sept. 1932. He preceded her in death. She then married Willard Stephens in March 1975. He also preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a former seamstress for the Hart Schaffner & Marx Corp., formerly of Rochester, where she had been a dedicated employee for 26 years. She was a member of the United Baptist Church of Knox. Her life was dedicated to her loving family, who will always remember her as a very caring and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a loyal friend. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends.
Survivors include four daughters, Dorothy Bryant, Helen Horn and husband Bob, Gloria Calhoun and husband Larry, and Barb Swank and husband Jim, all of Rochester; four sons, Hoy Arnett, Warsaw, Don Arnett and wife Pat, Portageville, Mo., Ronnie Arnett and wife Janelle, Clarion, Pa., Wayne Arnett and wife Luann, Plymouth; one daughter-in-law, Carol Arnett, Argos; 26 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, one son, Thomas Arnett on Aug. 29, 1970; one son-in-law, Virgil Bryant on Oct. 13, 2003; and three sisters, Cora Craft, Dora Howard and Mary Arnett. Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with Rev. Junior Bose officiating. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services in the funeral home. Burial is at the Athens Cemetery.
