Sylvia Loretta Griffis

MUNCIE - Sylvia L. Griffis, 83, passed away Friday morning, June 28, 2013 at AMG Specialty Hospital.

She was born in Muncie, April 8, 1930, the daughter of Hiarm and Hazel Tussey Davis, and attended Muncie schools, including Muncie Central High School.

Mrs. Griffis lived in Orlando, Florida for thirty-three years where she was employed at Sun Bank, prior to returning to Muncie in 2005.

She was a member of East Sixteenth Church of God where she was a member of the choir.

Surviving are her son, William R. Griffis, Muncie; her daughter, Linda S. Abrell (husband, Michael), Yorktown; two grandchildren, Brian Abrell (wife, Kami), Pendleton, and Michelle Cupp (husband, Justin), Muncie; her great-grandson, Owen Cupp, Muncie; her sister, Blanche Fickert, Orlando, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, William D. "Jr." Griffis, who died in March; and five sisters, Irene Druckemiller, Myrtle Turney, Cora Voke, Jean Newton and Wanda Powell.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2013 at Parson Mortuary with Pastor Doug Lucy officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory.
