"Tabitha Noe on December 15, 1803 married Abraham Scholl, pioneer settler where now is Griggsville, Abraham's cabin, erected in 1825, being the first white habitation on the site of the present town. The Noes were originally from Hagerstown, MD, but settled in an early day in Augusta County, VA, going thence in about 1800 to KY. Peter Noe, in a will dated January 16, 1802, and probated in Clark County, KY, November 22, 1802, left five shillings and no more to his daughter "Bytha".

Tabitha Noe, Abraham's wife, was 38 when she settled in Pike County. She was Abraham's second wife, Nellie Hunble, the first wife, who came out to Kentucky in 1781, died and on December 15, 1803, in Kentucky, with David Barrow, early Baptist clergyman, officiating, Scholl married Tabitha Noe. [NOTE: Rachel, Abraham's daughter and Tabitha's stepdaughter, married Eld. David Barrow's grandson]

Tabitha Noe was born in 1787 Hagerstown, MD. Tabitha was a little woman of iron nerve who grappled barehanded with the wilderness. Dr. W. Saunders of Council Bluffs, Iowa, a great-grandson of Abraham Scholl and Tabitha Noe, relates that his great grandmother used to ride horseback from north of Griggsville to Atlas to secure supplies for her loom. He says his mother told him of Tabitha having to swim her horse across some swollen streams.

Of her grandmother Tabitha Noe, Adeline Scholl wrote:'Grandmother was only 16 when she married Grandfather. He was a widower and had 6 children.'

The old Indian fighter, Abraham, was buried in a beautiful plot in Griggsville Cemetery. There are also graves of his wife Tabitha Noe, who died in 1864 and those of his daughter Elizabeth and her husband Charles Gibbs."
