BUCKLEY- In Charlestown, Oct. 17, 1942, Theresa A. , beloved daughter of Jeremiah M. and Bridget Buckley. Funeral from the home of her brother, Patrick J. Buckley, 20 John A. Andrew St., Jamaica Plain, on Tuesday at 9 a.m. Solemn Requiem Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Charlestown at 10 o’clock.

Boston Globe 18 Oct 1942.

Theresa A. Buckley, for more than 30 years secretary to the publisher of the Boston Globe, died yesterday at the Baker Memorial of the Massachusetts General Hospital. She was born in Charlestown, educated in the grammar school there and at Girl’s High School. Her brother John J. Buckley is connected with the Boston Housing Authority and another brother, Patrick is a Globe pressman. Her uncle was the late Timothy J. Buckley, a member of the Executive Council and a cousin, John P. Buckley is a member of the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission. Theresa Buckley was a newspaper woman. She loved the business and the interests of the papers were always hers. She was kindly, gentile and usually smiling and was a helpful person who made the problems of the novice her own. She was sympathetic, easily moved and was responsible in a quiet way for a good many acts of kindness but too reserved to admit she had anything to do with them. She was a friend to the staff, the errand and copy boys and to a constant stream of visitors calling upon the publisher. She knew most of the 1000 Globe employees by name. The ramifications of the Buckley family in Charlestown are wide. The late Jack Donahue, the dancer, and his brother Walter who followed in his footsteps were her cousins. It is doubtful she ever missed a June 17th “night before” celebration or the annual Bunker Hill Day parade in Charlestown. It was the only day that the work in the publisher’s anteroom was given short shrift. Besides her brothers, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Eileen Gallagher, Somerville, formerly secretary to the late Chas. H. Taylor, and Mary Buckley, now in a religious order, as Sister Eileen, Mother Superior, at St. Agnes convent in South Boston. She was secretary of the Globe’s Quarter Century Club, an organization of employees who have worked at the newspaper 25 years or more. She originated a system of savings accounts, adopted by many employees. Her funeral will be held at the home of her brother, Patrick J. Buckley, 20 John A. Andrews St., Jamaica Plain, Tuesday at 9 a.m. with a solemn high mass of requiem at 10 o’clock at St. Mary’s Church, Charlestown.

Boston Globe 18 Oct 1942.

21 Oct 1942 Boston Globe has a large article on the funeral.

She is the late Julia T. in brother John's 1992 obit.
