About Thomas Ralston of that Ilk
THOMAS RALSTON OF THAT ILK (aka THOMAS RAILSTOUNE OF THAT ILK)
Thomas Ralston of that Ilk is the son of John Ralston of that Ilk and his wife Hawes Wallace. Register of the Great Seal of Scotland, charter number 2929 His father transferred ownership of Ralston to him on 4 January 1506-06 but reserved one third to himself and his wife Hawes Wallace in liferent. The Excambation of Ralston
Thomas Ralston of that ilk exchanged Ralston in the barony of Renfrew for the lands of Hill of Beith and Rossholm in the bailliery of Cunningham belonging to John, Lord Ross of Hawkhead. He reserved the liferent of his mother and father. His charter in favour of Lord Ross of Hawhead is dated 11 February 1505. Death
According to George Robertson, Thomas Ralston of that Ilk died without issue and was succeeded by his younger brother Hugh. George Robertson's Ayrshire, see pages 276-79 for an account of the family of Ralston of that Ilk. A date of death has not been identified for Thomas Ralston of that Ilk but he seems to have died before 21 August 1531, when Hugh Ralston of that Ilk served on an assize. 1503: Tack granted by Margaret Blair, spouse to Robert Montgomery of Giffin and Lady of the Third Part of Giffin in favour of her beloved goodson, Alexander Montgomery of Giffin and his heirs of all her terce lands of Giffyn in which Robert Montgomery, unquhile, her husband died vest and seised as of fee; and also of the lands which Dame Janet Houstoun had in conjunct fee and terce with entry on the 18th day of May 1503 for all the days of her life.
