-During his reign, in 1889 Negri Sembilan came under British protection. In 1895, Negri Sembilan entered the Federated Malay States. Three years later, he was duly elected the first Yang-di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan. He died in 1933 after a reign of 45 years (1888-1933).
