Came to Durban as a passenger (Passenger 32579) and started in Durban as a teacher.
Saw an opportunity to start a Ship Chandling business but being an indian was unable to get licence to trade.
Used Mr Lester Green as nominee to start the business and named the company Lester Green and Company.
The business was very successful during the second world war , supplying provisions to many of the ships that docked in Durban.
Apparently a very disciplined person which probably accounted for his success.
On his passing in 1946 , the business was inherited by Satheaseelan Pillay (His Second Son)
