WALTON BERGEY Walton Hagey Bergey, 92, died Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at his residence in Baltimore, MD. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sara Alderfer Bergey, of Telford, in 1950, and by his second wife, Sarah Wenger Bergey, of Souderton,in 1988. Born February 8, 1920 in Franconia, he was the son of the late Harry Moyer Bergey and Katie Hagey Bergey.
He lived in the Souderton area most of his life, working as a self-employed builder. He served as pastor of the Silverdale Brethren in Christ Church in Silverdale, from 1953 to 1959, and as caretaker of Roxbury Holiness Campgrounds in Roxbury, from 1959 to 1964.
He is survived by two sons, Robert W. Bergey and his wife, Glenna, of Perkasie, and Harry W. Bergey and his wife, Mary Beth, of Baltimore, MD; seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Daniel, David, Timothy, Stephen, Benjamin and Sarah; and by one great-grandson, Andrew. He is also survived by one brother, Franklin Bergey and his wife Shirley, of Lansdale; two sisters, Naomi Walter of Ephrata, and Rhoda Nissley and her husband Gerard, of Elverson.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sara Nyce, and Beulah Shaeffer. His funeral service will be held at 1PM Saturday, May 5, at Souderton Mennonite Church, 105 W. Chestnut Street, Souderton. Family and friends may call at the church Saturday afternoon from 12 Noon to the time of the service. Interment will follow the funeral service.
