About Wanda George
CONYERS, Ga. -- Wanda Connor George of Conyers, Ga., died Tuesday, September 18, 2018. Wanda was born in Columbus, Ga., on December 30, 1942, and raised in Statesboro, Ga. Wanda graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelors of Education. She began her teaching career in Richmond Hill, Ga., then in DeKalb County and some 30 years in Rockdale County Schools in elementary education. She had a love of family, reading, gardening and cooking as well as traveling. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Edwin George; sons, Gregory and Timothy (Robin); and her four grandchildren, Ansley, Davis, Madison and Riley George. She was preceded in death by her father, James D Connor, who served in World War II; and mother, Eldora Barnes; stepfather, James William Barnes; and sister, Janice Kay Brown. She is survived by two brothers, Ronald (Terri) and Donald Barnes; two sisters, Faye (Stacy) Webb, Pat (Nelson) Holland; brother-in-law, Robert Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Wanda was blessed with many kind and loving friends as well as her church family. The family would like to thank the staff at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Lake City Nursing & Rehab Center, Bridgeway Home Health and Abbey Hospice for their loving care and dedication. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 21st, at Conyers First United Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. Prior to the service, the family will be receiving friends from 1 p.m. -2:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Conyers First United Methodist Church, 921 North Main Street NW, Conyers, GA 30012.
