Historical Note: Early records indicate William's middle name as Enloe. In addition, early records of his last child (Edwin) reflect his name as Edward B Calhoun.
William was born at home in the Scotts Creek Township of Jackson County.
In the 20 Apr 1910, Cashiers Valley Township, Jackson County, NC Census he is living in the home of his brother, John Seymour Calhoun and his wife Julia. By trade, he was a saw mill inspector.
William would meet Beaulah C Watson, daughter of William A Watson and Josephine (Wiggins) Watson. They would marry ca. late 1910 in Jackson County, NC. Four children would be born to this union: Glenn, George, Bonnie and Edwin B Calhoun.
William would remain in the timber industry, working as a saw mill worker through the 1940s. His trade would finally take his family to Spartanburg County, SC where they would settle in the Woodruff Township of Spartanburg County.
