WILLIAM CRAIG IN CULT OF CRAIGBERNARD
William Craig in Cult of Craigbernard is the eldest son of Gilbert Craig in Cult of Craigbernard. In his last will and testament dated 22 November 1596 his father nominated his wife Elpeth Knox and eldest son William to be his executors testamentars. William and his mother were still alive on 18 June 1611, the date upon which they obtained a confirmation from the Commissary of Glasgow [National Archives of Scotland, H. M. General Register House, Edinburgh, Commissary Records of Glasgow, The Testament Testamentar of Gilbert Craig in Quilt of Craigbernard, which was confirmed at Glasgow on 18 June 1611, reference CC9/7/7]

In 1628 Gilbert Craig eldest lawful son of William Craig purchased the lands of Cult of Craigbernard from John Stirling of Craigbarnet, who sold them with the consent of his wife Annabella Ewing [John Guthrie Smith, F.S.A.
