William Was a mariner early in life he never married. he was taken prisoner by a British cruiser in the War of 1812 from which he escaped and went to Savannah GA. He purchased a vessel there and freighted cotton on the Savannah River for large profits. he died in Savannah and Mr Lewis Greenleaf of Salisbury went south to settle his estate.
