About William Hoard, Jr.
William Hoard married Catherine (Blair) Hoard in Hawkins Co., TN about 1812. They migrated into the wilderness of southern Indiana and settled down on the present site of Huron, IN that was then a three-day journey (roundtrip on horseback) to their nearest towns, New Albany and Vincennes. The village of Huron, on the B&O Railroad was formerly called Hoard Station and was founded by the brothers William, George and Richard Hoard.

"William Hoard served under General Jackson in 1813. He and the family migrated into Orange Co., Indiana, and a year later to Lawrence Co., Indiana, where he died March 30, 1855."
