About William Manning
Lived with son Edward after his wife's death in Plain City, Ohio. He was a saddle and harness maker.
Dear Sandy,
Thanks! WOW! I really appreciate being able to get into the ancestry.com with your passcode. Very interesting!
I clicked on the Reed arrows as far back as possible (basically to 17 different James Reeds) and then I went back and clicked on the arrows for the Mannings all the way back into the 1000s as you said. Unbelievable there are records to trace that far back! I expected it to be like on the TV show, "Who do you think you are" on Friday nights, when they're tracing back celebrities and they basically state, that when in England, and no hope to own land there, they came over on a ship to America for new hope of ownership. I truly didn't expect to find lineage all the way back to castles in Kent, England and further back to Manheim Germany! AWESOME! Ion will be thrilled to learn all about this! (He and Melissa have been busy looking to buy a new place of their own. I believe they may have decided to buy a new/build Townhome there by Brier Creek, (NW Raleigh) because they really enjoy living an working in that area. So they've been busy with realtor showings, and now picking out counter tops and wood floors etc.)
Anyway, back to Geni - Learning about your Great Uncle Edward Manning has been very interesting as well. It looks like Edward died before your Pop was born in 1916, but that he'd married Nancy (Lamme) Manning, who lived around where Ted and I used to live by Muirfield Village! I remember this because, the back side of Muirfield Village at the intersection of Glick Avery Rd (Left) & Jerome Rd (Right) was a source of contention for our Civic Action Committee. (Also, this intersection, represented three Counties (Jerome on W side was Union County, Jerome on E side of road was Delaware County and Avery went into Franklin County.) We, in Muirfield Village did not want a cut-through street, continuing Glick straight through our last phase of Muirfield on into Tartan West. Therefore, as Chairman of the Civic Action Committee I used to attend not just the Dublin City Council meetings, but also the Jerome City Council meetings in the old Jerome Church regarding further development plans etc. I know just where the Bowen John Lamme Farm area was there by the New California development area.
Small world isn't it?
