Obituary - Augusta Chronicle 4/7/1961 - William J. Redd

William Jefferson Redd, 73, of 2105 A St. died Thursday in a local infirmary

after an extended illness.

Mr. Redd was a native of Aiken County, S.C., but had lived in Augusta for the

past 50 years. He was a retired Southern Press Cloth employee and was a member

of the Woodlawn Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Thompson Redd; son, T/Sgt. Henry E.

Redd of the U.S. Air Force in Japan; three daughters, Mrs. B. C. Anderson, Mrs.

J. W. Bessman, and Mrs. E. B. Carpenter -- all of Augusta; brother, James Emory

Redd of Augusta; 20 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces

and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Elliott Sons Chapel

with the Rev. Clyde E. Smith officiating, assisted by the Rev. T. M. Sullivan.

Funeral services for William Jefferson Redd, 73, who died Thursday at a local

informary after an exended illness, will be held today at 3:30 p.m. at Elliott

Sons Chapel with the Rev. Clyde F. Smith officiating, assisted by the Rev. T.

M. Sullivan.

Interment will follow in West View Cemetery.

Mr. Redd, who was the husband of Mrs. Mary Thompson Redd, lived at 2105A St.

Pallbearers will be Oscar Lowery, W. H. Bugg, G. D. Rankins, D. S. Anderson,

E. R. Card and W. W. Anderson.
