WILLIAM SHADFORD, RETIRED POWER PLANT ENGINEER, DIED EARLY TODAY
WILLIAM SHADFORD, 1116 East 11th , retired chief engineer of the Ideal Cement Co. Plant at Portland, died early today at a local hospital. He was stricken Monday and removed to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.
Mr. Shadford came to Colorado in 1900 and was active in the mining industry in Victor and Cripple Creek in the early days. He engaged in power plant work in smelters in the Denver, Pueblo and Florence Districts and for 30 years associated with the cement plant at Portland. He installed the original power plant equipment at the portland plant.
He served as chief engineer at the Portland plant until 1937 when he retired and moved to Pueblo.
He was a life member of Fremont Lodge No 97, A.F. & A.M. and a member of the Methodist Church.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Arabella Shadford of the family home; one daughter, Mrs. C. A. Keys, 1113 East 11th ; one son, Howard T. Shadford, 1523 east Fourth ; five sisters,Mrs. Ruth Harvey, Mrs. Mary Noel and Mrs. Naomi Hocking, all of England. Mrs. Onore Holeman, Detroit, Mich; and Mrs. Bessie Richards, Puente, Calif. and one brother, H.T. Shadford of Johannesburg, South Africa.
