About William Stewart
GEDCOM Note
On the marriage certificate of William Stewart and Lily McNab, dated 30 June 1919, William Stewart is stated as occupation Iron driller and Engine fitter and lives at 96, Glasgow Road, Clydebank. He would be aged 31.
22.04.09, William Stewart remains the greatest mystery in my family tree as far as information goes. I know his parents were William Stewart and Sarah Miller but the fact that his name is very common in Scotland has hindered my research. From his Marriage certificate I can see that his mother remarried, I imagine after Wm Sr died.I thought it said m.s McStout but I showed it to Grandma and she said it was McHoul as she remembers McHouls. William died in 1958 aged 68 years, I just realised that due to the faded photocopy I thought this said 63 years. I dont know why I have put his birthdate as 1888 for so long. He died in Feb 1958 aged 68, it
s likely he would have been 69 sometime later that year so its likely he was born in 1889 or perhaps the first two months of 1890. I am not sure where he was born though. If i could find this out I
d be well on my way to extending this elusive branch of my tree and more importantly Grandmas tree. Id love to be able to make progress and show her my findings.
