Genie Givens, 55 years, died suddenly at his home on Salt Lick Creek near Bagdad, where he had resided more than thirty years, Monday 1:30 a.m., May 26th. He was the son of Joe Givens and the late Maggie Duke Givens. Besides his father he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sidney Sutton Givens, one daughter, Mrs. Clyde Cantor, one son W.C. Givens, two grandchildren, Anthony Givens and Alice Fay Cantor; also one sister, Mrs. Oliver Mundy, six half-sisters and three half-brothers. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Funeral services were held near the Snoddy Cemetery*, at Bagdad, by Bro S.P. Lowery. Interment was in the Snoddy cemetery with the Kempville Funeral Home in charge. Pall bearers were Clay Butler, Raleigh Sutton, Robert Pitty, Carl Mathis, Everette Cornwell, John W. Agee and W.T. Sircy. The floral bearers were Misses Lena Woodard, Cristine Harville, Olene Harville, Thelma Rice, Lucille Mathis, Lennie Ayers, Sue Hines, Maude Butler, Francis Gaines, Mattie G. Smith, Judy Brooks, Dorothy and Thomas Agee, Polly Cornwell and Polly Butler.
