Winnie was born 28 Dec 1903 to George and Mary (Geerts) Heun.

A discrepancy exists in her birth location, she may have been born in Garden Plain or in Newton Township, of Whiteside County, IL. In 1900 her father was living at his parents' home in Newton; his mother was living at her parents' home in Fulton. Winnie was their first child. By 1910, the couple were renting a farm in Newton. (The State of Illinois did not begin recording birth records until 1916.)

By 1920, her family moved to Garden Plainn Township renting a farm there.

Winnie married Justus Huizenga 20 Dec 1921 at Garden Plain. Together they raised four children: Marjorie Marie Klooster, Howard, Paul, and Harlan.

"She had been a homemaker in her own home. She was a member of Newton-Zion Reformed Church and Ladies Aid Society of the church," according to the obituary published 17 Feb 1997 The Dispatch, Moline, IL, page 5.
