About john ward
john was born october 1842, in kirkham,preston lancashire.his first sister alice was born in 1845,and his brother edward was born in 1850 unfortunatly he also died in 1850 but i cant find a death certificate. in 1851 when he was 8 they still lived kirkham. when he was 18 in 1861 he moved to wesham on medler , a few years after that in 1868 his sister alice died. on the 25th january 1877 his mother ann sadly passed away and in 1883 when john was 41 on the 6th of november his father edward passed away. on the 3rd of july 1889 at age 49 john married eliza godfrey at st michaels parish church the marraige certificate states that eliza was a domestic servant and john was an operative ( not sure what of? ) they were both living on marsden street in kirkham.john signed his name but eliza put an x which makes me belive maybe she couldnt write ?? there witnesses were henry rawsthorne and edward butler and there first son thomas was born on the 8th aug 1889. they had a daughter ann alice in june 1891 but sadly she died in 1893 ,some time between 91 and 93 they moved back to kirkham , there son edward (ned) was born 23rd feb 1894 and they had another daughter that they named ann alice on 16th july 1896 in kirkham. they had another daughter mary ellen born23/9/1897 when john was 49 years old .johns brother thomas died 11th feb 1903 and im very sad to say that in jan 1907 eliza passed away . on the 2nd april 1911 they moved to number 4 barnfield in kirkham this was a 5 bedroomed property at this time john was a retired cotton loomer who was widowed with his children thomas,21 a weaver ann, 14 a weaver and mary, 13 a part time weaver part time school. his sister ellen died 19/10/1913 and john died september 1925 at age 82.
