The original (old) Greenwood cemetery is now part of Woodlawn Cemetery next door to the East. A new Greenwood (this one) cemetery was started immediately adjacent to Woodlawn to the West (both cemeteries abut each other down an imaginary line). A lot of cemetery records were lost in a fire in the early 1900's (per the City of Ocala Real estate department). So your family may be there, we just don't know where.
PLEASE be careful not to confuse this cemetery, as there is another Greenwood Cemetery in Marion County down in Wiersdale.
This one is located on 1425 NE 3rd Street, Ocala, Marion County, Florida.
In 1894, due to the many burials and limited vacant space availability in Evergreen Cemetery, a new cemetery, Greenwood, located a few miles east was planned for the future burials of the white population. Greenwood was later expanded and this expansion was known as the Greenwood Annex. Many burials that were originally at Evergreen were relocated to this new cemetery.
Today Greenwood Cemetery and its Annex lies along side of Woodlawn Cemetery. The boundary between these cemeteries is not clear.
